Prospecting for "Godless" smooth rim 2007 Wash dollars
Anybody find any of the supposed 50,000 non stamped "Godless Dollars". I've searched roughly $650 an non to be found :thumpdown but I did find a good number of upside down inverted rims in my lot. Not really sure how rare those are? Anyhow if people are still buying these on eBay - I guess I'll sell them as well. :9536:
Eyes are really tired need to sort them on Saturday. Gee I hope there will be a market for them next week. :D I stumbled upon this yesterday: http://money.cnn.com/2007/03/07/news...ion=2007030718 http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17501178/ |
Re: Prospecting for "Godless" smooth rim 2007 Wash dollars
This is a scam by the government getting sheeple to look through them!
Now there is a bunch in cicrulation and every time a new one comes out people are going to think that there are errors and try to look for them!! |

You probably got a lot that someone already searched through.
Besides 50,000 in millions is a real small percentage. Its kind of like a shot in the dark. Chris |
Re: Prospecting for "Godless" smooth rim 2007 Wash dollars
Would a whole roll be godless, or would these be sprinkled among the multitudes?
I tried to get some from my bank the day they went on sale and they didn't have any. I may pick up a roll today. Not for the lottery pick, but just to use a roll. LG :smokin: |

I have been leaving them as tips.
The waiter gives a dirty look at first cause they look like quarters. :haha: |

This just smells like a desperate attempt to gain acceptance through a media event, as was noted previously.

Re: Prospecting for "Godless" smooth rim 2007 Wash dollars
I've now searched over $750 of these from original un-tampered rolls. :no_ma: No smooth rims to be found. The supposed inverted or upside down error is in fact a 1 out of 2 Radom chance occurrences. I can't believe what people were paying for extremely common inverted dollars.
I have 2 auction for some of these but in good conscience I can't not and will not list them as errors, or possible errors, rare, these are bound to go up, only found in the early run etc. For what it's worth here is some Intel I found today: http://coins.about.com/od/errorcoins..._lettering.htm |

I bought a few rolls, your bank probably had them and didn't know...
At the coin show last week they were selling the new coins for two dollars. Can you believe that! |

Actually several of the banks in my area were already out of them. I was 2 days late on the craze. I caught wind of it last Wednesday but it didn't register with me what all the buzz was until Thursday. I will probably keep several hundred and spend some and deposit the rest of them back into my account. |
Re: Prospecting for "Godless" smooth rim 2007 Wash dollars
I picked up a whole box ($1000) at face of course. Stashed it away for now. I figure in 3 months when the next one comes out most of the original rolls may have been gone through. The truth about quantity of these errors will come out eventually.
I figure they are at a minimum a dollar, and perhaps in a year they could be much more in the original roll. May be an opportunity to get a fair percentage on a $1000 investment. If they are rising nicely, it may pay to get a box of each new release as another form of investment. They are not inflation proof, but the mintages are relatively small, and mint sealed boxes or rolls may bring a premium. I have heard 300 million for both mints combined. Thats not enough for each person in US to have even one each, especially if you include "guests". I suspect the mint if responsible for the "error" coins may pull other stunts to sell the coins. Look at Coinflation and you can see the seigniorage on this issue may be the highest margin of all coins right now. So if there are some "accidental" errors, all the better for sales. I was just at my local dealer this morning, and his supply of rolls looks wiped out compared to 2 weeks ago. He is selling rolls for $29. Thats a nice 16% profit margin. Has there been any reports of die errors on the faces of the coin yet? |
